Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is one of the leading educational institutions in Asia. From its inception, the institution has focused on providing education to the poor, deprived, and socially backward sections of society.
The founder, Dr. Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil, devoted his life to the cause of mass education. He strongly believed that education alone could eliminate social evils such as caste discrimination, illiteracy, untouchability, superstition, and economic inequality. He was a true humanitarian who dedicated his life to uplifting society through education. In 1919, he founded Rayat Shikshan Sanstha by starting a boarding house at Kale, Taluka Karad, District Satara. Later in 1924, the headquarters of the institution was shifted to Satara.
After the demise of the founder, the institution continued to grow rapidly. Today, the Sanstha operates numerous colleges, secondary schools, training colleges, hostels, primary schools, pre-primary schools, administrative offices, and various educational branches across Maharashtra and Karnataka. The institution serves lakhs of students and employs thousands of staff members belonging to various castes and communities.
